New Member Spotlight: Erika O’Brien

For our second New Member Spotlight, meet Erika O’Brien. Erika recently joined BTMA and works as the Executive Assistant for the Winchester-Clark County Tourism Commission.

Erika O'BrienWhat prompted you to join BTMA?
I met Amy Jackson at a tourism event hosted by Buffalo Trace and she invited me to attend a meeting. This organization is diverse and will allow me to network with travel partners throughout the Region.

How has your BTMA membership benefited you so far?
I’m a brand new member, however I’ve already made some connections with other members and got some really cool socks at the last meeting Y’All!

In your opinion, what is a “must see” or “must do” for a tourist visiting the Bluegrass?
Beer Cheese! In Winchester we are blessed to be the home of Ale-8-One and the Birthplace of Beer Cheese. Come conquer the Beer Cheese Trail, where you can eat your way from our historic downtown to the rural landscapes and river views of Clark County.

Tell us about your morning ritual.
I begin my mornings by trying to pry my two children out of bed! Then off to work I go.

What are your personal hobbies or volunteer activities?
I enjoy attending events and promoting my hometown of Winchester, KY. Other favorites are spending time with my family and girlfriends.

What is your personal philosophy or mantra?
Give anything you do 100%. Then at least you know you’ve tried and will have no regrets!

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I actually have 3 bosses! I am the Executive Assistant for the Winchester-Clark County Tourism Commission, the Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce and the Winchester-Clark County Industrial Development Authority! I love my job and have the privilege of working for 3 people I respect.

What is something you can’t live without?
Ale-8-One! I feel bad for people that don’t have Ale-8!!

How do you define success?
Happiness. If you’re not happy, make changes.
