Event Coordinator II
Full-time Event Coordinator II position available at the Kentucky HOrse Park located in Lexington, Kentucky. This position is responsible for coordinating 6-10 established medium to large sized non-equine events. Prepares detailed plans and works with agency services and management personnel to assure that contracted services such as set up, take down, seating and electrical services are performed on time and in accordance with contract agreement. Works with show management to identify and solve unanticipated problems. Draft and negotiate event contracts to ensure that policies and procedures are followed. In addition, would be expected to recruit and/or established several more non-equine events to be held in climate controlled arena as well as outdoor stadium. Responsible for collecting, checking reviewing all documentation with reference to assigned shows and events including, but not limited to contracts, purchase orders and event scheduling. Positions in this class typically work long hours with daily exposure to dirt and noise. Successful candidates must also be willing to work weekends. Must be a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree and must have two years of business or administrative experience, of which one year must have been in scheduling and coordinating shows or events. Business or administrative experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis. Farmhouse Manager - Kentucky Horse Park Foundation

The Farmhouse:

The Farmhouse is a private club for members of particular giving levels to the Man o' War Society, which is the source of unrestricted funds for the Kentucky Horse Park managed by the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation. The KHP Foundation's only beneficiary is the Kentucky Horse Park and is a non-profit 501(c)3 located at the park.

Role:

The Farmhouse Manager is responsible for the administration and management of the membership club.

Responsible to:

The manager of the Farmhouse is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the club.  The manager reports to the Executive Director of the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation.  The Farmhouse Committee sets the policy and provides operational oversight.  The manager will also show initiative in working towards the continued success and improvement of the Farmhouse.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Requirements:

While organizational and management skills are a prime requisite, strong interpersonal and oral communication including the ability to effectively liaise with the members is necessary.  Candidates should be self-starters, flexible, and have experience working with volunteer and membership organizations.  Knowledge of equine sports is an asset.

The manager is responsible for:

- Day to day operations of the club, including condition of the facilities (keep locker room tidy), security of the club property, maintenance of an accurate schedule events, ensuring of availability of regular supplies, operation of the bar and arrangement of rental of the club facilities

- Maintaining relationship with club caterer

- Managing and monitoring all contracted services to the club catering service, daily janitorial service

- Receiving monies for club membership

- Implementing club policies

- Managing club staff including training and recruitment

- Ensuring that all equipment is safe and a first aid kit is at the ready

- Maintaining dog turnout daily

- Generally any other duties required in the furtherance of the day-to-day operation of the Farmhouse

The contract commences on March 15, 2008 and terminates on October 31, 2008.  Club operates Tuesday - Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Workload will vary with the season: i.e. extended hours in the spring and summer and reduced duties in the fall season.
